Yankees Sweep Rays And Climb Above .500
Aaron Hicks hit 2 home runs last night and single handedly won the game for the Yankees. That’s a sentence I never thought I would write but here we are, a game above .500, thanks to Aaron Hicks.
After starting the season off at 1-4, the Yankees have rattled off 4 straight wins, with contributions from almost everyone in the lineup. A few days ago I wrote about this team being a bunch of individuals that were the furthest thing from a “team”, but that’s all changed. Aaron Judge has been crushing the ball and our pitching has stepped up in a big way but tonight we turn to our ace.
The Cardinals are coming to town and we kick things of with Tanaka on the mound. So far in 2017 Tanaka has given up 10 runs in 7.2 innings for a 11.74 era with only 8 strikeouts. Everyone knows that’s not what you want out of your ace, including Tanaka himself. “Obviously the first and second games, I was not able to do a good job. We’re back home now and this is going to be my first home game. I really want to go out there and try to give a good, strong performance.” Before the season we thought that the pressure would be on Tanaka to stop losing streaks as the season went on, but now we’re looking for him to keep a win streak going to turn his season around.
Luckily the Cardinals are playing bad baseball right now and present the Yankees with a chance to win another series, while fulfilling a tour guides prophecy.
PS: Greg Bird looks LOST and that only makes me more excited for when he explodes any day now.
